In the year Jim along with Sasha Allen were able to make it on The Voice Live Shows, they set records because Sasha was the first openly transgender singer on the NBC reality show that made it through to the Battle Rounds in the entire 21 seasons. The Newtown team, Jim and Sasha Allen, have made it to the top 8 during the 21-year run of The Voice Live Shows! Sasha announced that he's transgender when he presented their audition package during the Blind Auditions. According to Parade.com, this was not a quick decision. "That was a very difficult decision because you are showing a very personal and vulnerable aspect of yourself to a lot of millions of people," said Sasha, who went through a transition while in high school. Support from the audience and the effect that it is having on others, even though it was hard to make is what has convinced Sasha that his decision was worthy. The song was played before The Voice even existed. It was a great surprise. We had already heard the track and had some thoughts on how to arrange it. It was quite amazing that the crowd have hit the nail on the head."
